VIDEO: Getting into the wool industry – a producer/off-farm contractor’s view

Being prepared to start in businesses with a quick monetary turn-over, like shearing, sheep trading and selling wool, helped western Queensland producer David Owens realise the dream of buying his own property.  Mr Owens operates ‘Somerset’, a 10,000 hectare grazing property, 70 kilometres south of Longreach, which runs up to eight thousand Merino ewes. For the past nine years he has also operated his own contract crutching team travelling and working throughout western Queensland. (Video length 4 minutes 28 seconds)
