    Leading Sheep is an education framework for leading the adoption of new technologies and practices to increase the productivity of the Queensland sheep industry.

    Leading Sheep aims to do this through sheep producers;
  • Implementing recognised management systems in response to emerging international requirements.
  • Adopting enhanced sheep and property management practices.
  • Improving the profitability and sustainability of their enterprise.
  • Reducing losses due to predation through integrated pest management control plans.

    A number of innovative approaches have been identified as necessary to increase the potential impact of the project. Enhancing communication opportunities through the use of modern technology, engaging youth in regional activities, better understanding of the key profit drivers and enhancing interpersonal skills of individuals will all contribute to the success of the project.

    Healthy sheep webinar August 28

    Sheep producers looking for the latest advice on how to maintain a healthy and contented flock should tune into a free webinar on Thursday, August 28.

    A special three hour program will beam the latest on worm and lice control from a panel of three experts over the internet. Participants can come and go as they please throughout the webinar, getting involved in any of the three presentations.

    Leading Sheep Project Manager Geoff Knights said the webinar was the latest in a series of innovative programs to focus on key industry issues.

    “The uptake of high speed broadband internet has made webinars widely accessible. Leading Sheep has built an extensive contact network and we are adding to it all the time,” Mr Knights said.

    Hundreds of sheep producers are now registered. Anyone not on the database who wants to participate in the webinar will need to register prior to the event on https://leadingsheep-events.webex.com.au
