| Leading Sheep is gathering information and stories which record the experiences of producers and professionals working to control sheep predators, including pigs, wild dogs and dingos.
This valuable information will be compiled into an electronic book titled Tracks and Traps to highligh the types of control methods, strategies and solutions developed by Queensland producers. Communicating this knowledge through a publication may help producers deal with predators that have been identified as one reason for them leaving the sheep industry.
The e-book will be circulated electronically through the Leading Sheep network and can then be read on the computer screen or printed out for those who prefer to read a hard copy.
Some ideas you might like to consider to get you started with writing your contribution are listed below but anything you believe to be relevant to your situation can be included.
You might like to begin your story by defining your property in terms of location and enterprise mix then outline the predator problems you have experienced and how you have dealt with them.
• Define your situation
• What predator problems have you had in recent years?
• Are they getting worse?
• What control options did you consider?
• What action have you taken?
• What is happening around you on neighbouring properties?
• Any suggestions for the future?
We would like each story to be less than 1000 words long (ie less than about three A4 typed pages) but we are happy to accept longer contributions if the content justifies more.
Please email your story and any photos to Leading Sheep Central West committee member Wendy Sheehan on 4656 3031 or trinidad2@bigpond.com or Leading Sheep communications coordinator Jane Milburn on jane@milburnmedia.com or 3371 4916.
We hope to publish the e-book in September, so please get cracking on your contribution today.
